Daily readings

I am no longer going to be mailing out the Thought for today.
If any of you have been enjoying the daily readings then you can bookmark this link below and visit the site every day for a reading. There is a lot of other information on the site.

I have in the past tried my best to give you Vedantic readings that are  some what easier to understand and relevant to our life at present. You might find Swami Sivanada's expressions some what dated, he passed in 1963.  With an open mind just extract the positive essence from the message and apply it in a way that makes sense to your life. English words are very limited and often don't convey a concept as well as the Sanskrit language, especially if you are not familiar with the philosophy in depth.

 If any of you find that you are feeling lost with out these daily readings, it means that Vedanta has found a "Seed bed" in your mind and growth towards the "Self" is starting. Contact me if you have questions and I'll do my best to provide you with more clarity.

Boot Camp Yoga classes????

My belief is: If one is really truly committed to yoga sadhana then you don't need any thing else other  than walking, dancing, tai chi, jogging, swimming......
Hatha yoga (and yes it is ALL Hatha yoga with different methods of practice) is designed for all physical needs. Just practice according to YOUR physical needs. Ask your self why you are doing yoga. Do you want just a beautiful body? If this is your desire then do what you need to do. This is not Yoga...
Yoga is authentically for enabling us to be healthy while we are here during this life, to age gracefully, time to burn up as much karma as possible before moving on! It is also designed to help us sit with a straight spine for lengthy meditation so that we may learn to give up the body and discover who we truly are therefore making our passing from this life to the next much easier and hopefully with awareness.

 Let's try to honor the gift we have been given by respecting it's authenticity. I have been living yoga for 40 yrs and have no intention of ever disrespecting it's source and thousands of yrs of wisdom passed to us. After all it is based on Truth. Yoga is a science of self discovery.  Fitness is fitness. I'm not against fitness :)

THIS ARTICLE DISCUSSES THE NUTRITIVE AND COST VALUE OF CHOOSING NATURAL & ORGANIC FOODS VERSUS COMMERCIAL NON-ORGANIC FOODS.
 BY PRESENTING A COMPARATIVE EXAMPLE IT ASKS THE READER TO CONSIDER CHOOSING ORGANICALLY GROWN FOODS.

MY OPINION: 
  THIS ARTICLE POSES AN IMPORTANT MESSAGE ESPECIALLY TO PARENTS, THAT TOO MANY PEOPLE ARE MORE CONCERNED WITH WHAT THEY PUT “ON” THEIR BODY THAN WITH WHAT THEY PUT “IN” IT.
MANY PEOPLE TAKE BETTER CARE OF THEIR CAR THAN THEIR BODY, WHICH IN MY OPINION IS A CRIME. THERE IS NOT A MORE VALUABLE VEHICLE THAN THE HUMAN BODY!
HAVING BEEN A SINGLE MOTHER I AM AWARE THAT EATING A TOTALLY ORGANIC DIET CAN BE COSTLY FOR MOST FAMILIES, BUT THIS ARTICLE SHOWS THAT IT IS NOT AS EXPENSIVE AS WE MIGHT EXPECT AND THAT THE MONEY SPENT IS WELL WORTH THE BENEFITS.
THIS ARTICLE POINTS OUT THE FOODS THAT ARE MOST IMPORTANT TO PAY ATTENTION TO AND THOSE THAT ARE LESS HARMFUL IF NOT GROWN ORGANICALLY.  IT GIVES A BASIC NUTRITIVE AND PRICE COMPARISON OF FOUR MAJOR FOOD GROUPS:  MEAT, DAIRY, GRAINS AND PRODUCE. THIS IS VERY HELPFUL WHEN SHOPPING FOR LARGER FAMILIES OR PEOPLE ON A FIXED BUDGET.
  BECAUSE I AM A FIRM BELIEVER OF EATING WITH AWARENESS, I AM HAPPY THAT THIS ARTICLE INFORMS THE READER IN A BASIC WAY THAT OUR BODIES ARE MADE OF WHAT WE EAT AND OUR HEALTH DEPENDS ON OUR CONSCIOUS CHOICES.
IF WE ALTER THE DNA OR HORMONES OF OUR FOOD WE WILL NATURALLY ALTER THE SAME IN OUR OWN BODY. IT IS IMPORTANT THAT PEOPLE BEGIN TO REALIZE THAT THE FOOD WE ARE EATING NOW IS VERY DIFFERENT FROM THE FOOD WE ATE 30-50 YRS AGO. OUR MAINSTREAM LOW COST FOODS ARE GENETICALLY ALTERED, FORCE GROWN WITH CHEMICAL FERTILIZERS, PESTICIDES AND HORMONES, THEN TREATED TO EXTEND SHELF LIFE.
  CHILDHOOD CANCERS ARE INCREASING AS WELL AS AUTISM, ALLERGIES, BEHAVIORAL AND HORMONAL DISORDERS.
I BELIEVE THIS IS CAUSED NOT ONLY BY THE FOODS WE EAT BUT ALSO BY THE TOXINS IN THE ENVIRONMENT.
I KNOW PARENTS WHO FEED THEIR KIDS CHEAP WHITE BREAD, KRAFT SINGLES, COOKIES, CANNED AND FROZEN VEGETABLES, PREPARED FOODS AND SAUCES, CHEAP SUGARY CEREALS, MARGARINE, FROZEN CHICKEN FINGERS, HOTDOGS AND SO ON. THEIR KIDS ARE CONSTANTLY SICK WITH COLDS, SKIN DISORDERS, CONSTIPATION AND OTHER PROBLEMS SUCH AS GUT BACTERIA AS A NEWLY DISCOVERED CAUSE OF AUTISM. THESE ARE JUST THE IMMEDIATE SYMPTOMS OF A LIFE CONDEMNED TO ILLNESS.
AS WELL AS FOR OUR OWN HEALTH, BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY
FOR THE SAKE OF OUR CHILDREN WHO ARE GROWING UP IN A TOXIC ENVIRONMENT, WITH A BIT OF EFFORT WE OWE IT TO THEM TO PAY ATTENTION TO WHAT THEY EAT AND TO TEACH THEM HOW TO EAT FOR MAINTAINING OPTIMAL HEALTH.
 AFTER ALL, THEY ARE ULTIMATELY THE ONES THAT WILL CHANGE OUR PLANET FOR THE BETTER OR THE WORSE.
